So, I’m finally starting a blog. Now, to figure out what to
write about. My name is Laura and I teach preschool physical education at a private
school in Maryland. I teach 3 year olds through 7 year olds. After surviving my
first full year of teaching, I’m ready to learn, grow, and improve for the
years to follow (instead of just surviving).
Posted on this blog, you can expect to find tips, ideas, and
lesson plans for educating our youngest in physical activity. I’m sure there is
bound to be many funny stories to tell as I make my way through my teaching
career as well.
I strive to keep kids active and healthy and to provide a
fun physical education class. Not only do I think it’s important to keep kids active,
but it’s even more important to teach them how to be active and healthy on
their own.
In addition to my job as a physical education teacher, I
also coach middle school soccer and high school indoor track. I love working
with a variety of age groups and I can see the pluses and minuses of all of
them. Throughout the summer, I will try to post what I’ve learned in my
professional development and how I plan on using it in the upcoming school
year.
Right now, I’m just enjoying my time off and not having to tie shoes,
wipe noses, and act like some kind of animal all day. I hope you find my blog
useful and sometimes entertaining.
